Taty's Online Shopping Cycle- Treat Yo Self

It is the holiday season (didn't Halloween just end?) and makeup palettes are presenting themselves all over the place. Yes I am obsessed, Yes I know its a problem, but holiday makeup palettes are like my crack and I only indulge once a year (not really). This is okay.

Right?

There is one problem that has made its way into my brain and won't leave. Can I really afford this? The answer my friends is NO. I can't.

Here is my most recent dilemma, which just happened about 20 minutes ago.

I went to QVC.com (curse you) and I saw that Tarte a brand that is well loved is selling a holiday set worth 248$ for 50$. You might be thinking "Taty, that's not true don't fall for that crap" but I priced every single item and made sure the size of the product was the same as if sold separately. It all was true. What is a girl to do?

Well, I’ll tell you this. I haven’t bought it. Yet.

This leads me to the other issue I face. Online Shopping is too hard.  By the time I am ready to make my purchase I have to register, just to find out I’ve already registered. Now I have to remember my password, nope.

Once all of that is sorted I notice that the price has gone up (obviously it’s tax and shipping) but this is where I cave.

That is 7 more dollars then what you are selling me QVC. You Liar!

And then my boyfriend just had to go and say this:

I haven't decided yet whether or not I will purchase this Tarte holiday set.

If you happen to see a review here soon, you will know the answer.

Wish me luck!
Taty

Life Recap- What has happened in the last 15 Months!

This is unforgivable. I have forgotten about my blog the same way I have forgotten about my fish (don't worry he is alive) .
Here is a very brief list of events that have happened since my last blog post.
1) I graduated from college! I dealt with my last exam, paper, etc and got my degree.
2) I moved back home.
3) I got a job, which I happen to really like and I feel really cool, even though I'm not.
4) I moved out of my home and now live with my boyfriend (shout out to Dave!)
5) I went to Hawaii for a week (beautiful!) and California to surprise my boyfriends mom(also beautiful!)

Written down on a list-it doesn't seem like very much BUT these are some big steps for a 21 year to take in her first year of independence.

Now to what this blog is really about : my beauty obsession.

I can honestly say I haven't bought very much makeup that being said, I have been having a major case of makeup withdrawals. I can't  live without it and this blog is just the medicine.

From what I have purchased I have decided to write some reviews take some photos of the results etc. Let me know if you would like me to review something in particular.

Here are a few things to expect:
Sonia Kashuk Sponge Review
NYX Bohemian Matte Palette Review
My lipstick collection / Top 10 Lipsticks
My Blush Collection/ Blushes for each Season

Hopefully by the end of the year I can post a makeup station/vanity how to organize video and a DIY on how to make a Vanity Mirror.

I know this is brief but I will gradually get to writing and posting videos again.

Thanks for reading and I promise not to make you wait much 'til my next post.

Love,
Taty

High-end Makeup and Drugstore Prices Means a Happy Taty!

I have had quite a marvelous experience searching for amazing makeup from both "luxury" and "drugstore" brands. Needless to say my budget is minimal, although I have an imaginary income that is to die for. I have even decided that WHEN I earn or win (whichever comes first) 10,000,000 the first thing I will do is buy myself every product that is in one Sephora store...then I will move on to MAC.
Devising a Plan to get a Sephora and Mac Store

I have experimented with purchasing from those "day-sale" sites like HauteLook and Sneakpeeq, which are great...if you are patient (I am not patient). Heck I ordered two sets of Real Technique Brushes two weeks ago and they have not even shipped yet. I will say, however, that the price beats out any wait that may come from purchasing the product.

Now I was completely happy ordering online and waiting because I was guaranteed the cheapest price for the best quality beauty products...that is until I entered TJ Maxx, Marshalls and my godsend Nordstrom Rack. They had entire sections in their store dedicated to health and beauty and my goodness did they deliver. Marshalls and TJ Maxx had nice bath products from Philosophy and primarily had makeup from Too Faced and TheBalm which is marvelous, but the price reduction wasn't that great.

Nordstrom Rack is an entirely different story! I went in and gasped at the sight of NYX, Philosophy, Urban Decay (by far my favorite brand!), Smashbox, Stila...the list goes on and on, it was a miniature Sephora with all the prices practically cut in half! I recently went in and saw an Urban Decay Vegan Palette for $11.95 from originally being $30.00 it came with 6 eyeshadows a primer potion in Sin (Meh, the original one is better) and a mini eyeliner in Zero ( I have never had to buy a full size liner from them I haven't even run out of the mini eyeliners that I do have from UD, they are that great!) The price was enough to have me purchase the product! I even saw Stila and Smashbox's Holiday Palettes for 1/3 of the original price.

My point is: Nordstrom Rack is the best place...EVER.

Transitional Time, Annnd We're Back!!!

Hey everybody,

I am so incredibly sorry for the little hiatus I had to take these past 2 1/2 weeks! Believe me I missed not being able to blog or shoot a video. Here's my explanation as to why I haven't been around: It is my senior year of college and this past weekend was move in day for everybody on campus. I work for Residence Life at my school so I was required to attend a pre-opening summer training that lasted TEN days! That is where my entire life went. I am not lying when I say I left my room at 9:00am and did not see it again until 11:00PM, I still haven't unpacked because I am so exhausted (too lazy) to do it. I hope you can forgive me and I will try my best to keep you informed in one shape or form when it comes to my videos and blog; I have a few things lined up so I am pretty damn excited to show you!

This week a tutorial will be posted INSPIRED by Jennifer Aniston. I am putting a little extra emphasis on inspired because Jen does not like to show her eye looks, I can't find a picture of her eyes closed anywhere!

Lots of Love :-D,
Taty

Kim K's Bold "Rebel" Lips

I finally was able to take some of the stress out of my life and film my Kim Kardashian tutorial, It's not the typical Kim K smokey eye, this look is all about the bold, bright lip. The Look I pasted below was my inspiration, granted her eye makeup is wayyyy stronger and smokier then the one I show in my tutorial but let's face it; we do not all look like Kim Kardashian and well I want everyone (including myself) to want to wear this look without feeling like a clown. So here it is! I do want to say thanks to the people who are subscribing and commenting :-) It makes me feel super special and any request I'll make sure to put time and thought into. An old friend said to do Jennifer Aniston, so she's up next on my inspiration list!

Leave a comment or shoot me an email at blush.kiss.makeup@gmail.com with any request.

Just Make Your VIDEOS! Why distractions are my videos worst enemy..

Since I have been on summer break, my time has been consumed by the following:
Sleeping
Writing Blog Post
Going out
Watching Dawson's Creek and the Olympics
and finally, Making Videos

For some reason my mind has been all over the place this week (A LOT of personal distractions), I have legitimately filmed my "upcoming" tutorial two times already and I absolutely hate the way they have come out. No edits could fix the amount of mistakes I have made in both videos. Needless to say it is frustrating me. Which is why I am starting from scratch yet again and making a new tutorial today.

It will not be the same one that I have been trying to film because I have done that look too many times in one week. This one will be a bit simpler. I found my inspiration from a photo of Kim Kardashian with a bright fuchsia lip. The look is incredible although I think she looks a bit too pale in the photo.

Wish Me Luck!

Don't be FOOLED by the color in the pan, try it on your hand!

This will be a short and sweet blog post simply because there doesn't need to be much of an explanation in regards to color selection.

You just have to trust your instincts. I went into MAC today looking for a nice contour color, for some reason I always come across the same problem with contour colors (they are too light or too orange). I spoke to the only MAC artist on the floor and she recommended Dark Mineralize Skin Finish and it was too light and too orange (like I said). She then took me to the blushes and showed me Mocha, let me say in her defense I would have picked Mocha too but there was something too pink/plummy about it, it wasn't the brown contour color I was looking for. She wanted to apply it under my cheekbones but I stopped her and swatched it on my hand. It was PINK! A rosy pink but still pink! Last time I checked pink is supposed to go on your cheeks not slim your face. I loved the color on my skin tone but did not purchase it. I kept thinking of it as a contour color which it is not.

Well anyways my point is, swatch things first on your HAND not your face especially if you are out in public, you wouldn't want pink stripes on your forehead, hollows under your cheeks or chin would you?

I found a swatch of mocha (first on the left) just to show you how pink it was! Photo came from KarlaSugar.net
